Hello. My name is Jim Guzek. I am an Opthamologist and eye surgeon at Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in the Tri-Cities, Washington. Every year I lead a team of volunteers to Ethiopia to perform dozens of surgical procedures that very literally change lives.
The gift of sight is amazing anywhere. But in Ethiopia, the gift of sight is a gift of freedom for both the one who was blind and their entire family. It changes the future for generations to come.
In the third world there are few programs to help those with disabilities. Blindness often means that a family member – usually a child – must become the blind person’s 24/7 seeing-eye helper. And that can be the end of childhood for that child: The end of school and of their hope of a better life.
With help from many volunteers, support from the Tri-Cities’ Sunrise Rotary group and working with Doctor Samuel Bora of Ethiopia, we can perform sight-giving operations at a cost of $50 each.
If you haven’t yet, please do watch the video above. It only takes seven minutes and it will show you how you, personally, can make a real difference in real human lives.
Thank you!
Dr. James Guzek
Many are awaiting for the gift of sight. A gift of $50 pays for one eye surgery. For the price of a tank of gas you can help someone see again!
Donations are to the Tri-Cities Sunrise Rotary Club located in Pasco, Washington, and designated to the Gifting Sight Program.
